I played softball as a child and fell in love with the sport.  Naturally, I encouraged my daughter to play and now she loves it.  I have watched her grow and become a stronger player and person this year at LTYA.  It has done so much for her self-confidence in all areas of her life.  Being on the board, to me, means that I get a chance to help other girls have the same wonderful experience my daughter has had.  I would love the opportunity to be a part of making softball a fun experience for the girls, parents and coaches.

I have been a Girl Scout troop leader for three years and will continue to be.  I feel that this has taught me a lot about working as a team.

Mike Cook

I'd like to first say thank you to the members of the Board for the nomination to be a potential member of the LTYA Softball Board.

Why do I want to be a Board member? I am a father of 5 (3 girls, 2 boys), and understand how important playing team sports is to a young girl's self esteem and healthy lifestyle.  Two of my girls play, or have played LTYA softball, and I have seen what a great softball program and learning good sportsmanship can mean to a young girl’s life.  My family lives in Bee Cave and we plan to make this our permanent home. I want to help ensure that the LTYA softball program continues to be a financially healthy, competitive and fun place for girls and their families to play softball for years to come.

Why would I be a good Board member?  I am an entrepreneur, starting or helping to start 3 successful businesses, and currently sit on the Board for a national not-for-profit.  I’ve held senior positions where I have had responsibility for over 1,000 employees. I believe the leadership and business skills and knowledge of a how a not-for-profit operates will help me do a good job as a Board member supporting the needs of the LTYA softball community.

Lastly, I played baseball through my senior year in high school and, while it’s not softball, I love the game.

I hope I will get the opportunity to serve the LTYA softball community.

Ned Druart

I have two daughters playing LTYA Softball. I have coached softball at the Shetland, Pinto, Mustang and Bronco levels. I have been active in LTYA Softball for over 5 years. I have served on the LTYA Softball Board for the past two years.

Their are many reasons for wanting to continue to serve on the softball board but first and foremost I believe that playing softball should be one of the best memories of any given girls childhood. I want to participate in making sure that is always the first consideration in any decisions that are made by our board.

Jimmy Evans

A father of two (7 and 6), my wife and I have been involved in the LTYA organization now for nearly 3 years.  I played baseball through my first year of college and have coached 2 little league teams to championships.

I am proud of the competitive spirit of LTYA, as well as the emphasis on character and sportsmanship.  I hope to honor and bring that to the board.  I am an attorney by trade and have represented a number or non profit clients and worked on many bylaws, if this skill set is needed.  I have sponsored each team our children have played and would Like the opportunity to assist LTYA through this time of enormous growth and take us to the next level, which will likely include a capital campaign.  Obviously we are out of space, but this is a good problem to have as interest from the community grows.  I believe we can continue to become a first class youth sports league that becomes known for our level of competition and player development.  We have so much opportunity with so much talent and sports support in the Lake Travis community alone.

Mike Reed

LTYA Softball is going through a transformation where we are becoming more competitive and growing.  I have served on the board for 2 years, 1 year as President, and hope to be re-elected in order to complete the effort that we started.

Brady Wunsch

I have 2 daughters who have been playing softball for a combined 11 seasons in 2 different leagues.  I've been head coach for 9, and assistant for the other 2.  My teams have played at least 9 other leagues under their house rules.  I have only coached 'rec level' softball.  I played little league and competitive baseball through my senior year in High School.  I feel I have a broad range of experience in how different ideologies affect players and a league.  I have seen and experienced the good and the bad and the effects they have on an organization.

LTYA Softball has strong, and dynamic leadership that is continually looking for ways to make the softball experience rewarding and enjoyable for a broad range of girls.  I appreciate that they strive to 'find a better way', are open to ideas, and don't rest on the idea 'because we've always done it that way.'   Having experienced other leagues, I realize how positive the LTYA approach is.  My daughters and I are committed to the league and I would like to 'give back' in any way I can.  I can help with logistics as well as with ideas that will hopefully help the league continue to make decisions that benefit and reward players, parents, and coaches.

The End of the Season Party was a success!
